Newcastle Town u14’s entertained Endon F.C. u15’s on Sunday down in Keele
The 2nd run out of the season was to give the lads the biggest test of the summer. A big powerful side with a good technical aspect to the play made this a great game for the neutral
Endons power was very much in evidence from the start with the two strikers who towered over the Newcastle defence got beyond them and tried to get the visitors into the lead clearly rattling the home side.
The first goal though came from Newcastle.
Max Gardner intercepting the ball on the halfway line and fired the ball into Leo Emerys feet, who then turned the ball to Max Van Der Laan on the wing he then delivered a delicious ball towards the back post where Leo Emery planted his header across the goalkeeper into the goal 1-0
Then Leo Emery scored his and Newcastle’s 2nd of the game when both Max Barlow and Max Van Der Laan sliced open the stagnant Endon midfield with some delightful passing and movement to get the ball into Leo Emery who shot goal wards and somehow the ball went in under the keeper 2-0
Now Newcastle were passing and moving at pace producing some very good chances. Yet this time it was Newcastle who conceded against the run of play. A long ball over the top allowed the Endon striker a free run at goal to which he calmly scored 2-1
The games forth goal and Endon’s 2nd came off a corner swung into the box, which was met by the Endon player 2-2
Now the game had turned into a battle with both teams trying to impose their wills and style like two boxers trying gain control, manoeuvring the other to gain that knock out blow.
Unfortunately the next telling blow was inflicted by Endon a weak clearance went out for a throw on the right where the winger collected the ball and swung in a cross only for it to float into the goal 2-3
Now it was Newcastle’s turn to show the same character that Endon had. Again the game twisted on its head and this time Newcaslte got back into the game Max Barlow swung another deadly corner where previously they had only caused panic this time it created an equaliser.
The ball was floated towards the back post where Hayden Nevard played the ball back across the six yard box for Callum Punchard to score his 1st of the preseason and the 3rd for Newcastle 3-3
The second half saw more exciting football from Newcastle which lead to the 4th goal
A quick passage of passing released Jake Till on the right to cross and there was Leo Emery to this time slot in on the half volley Newcastle’s 4th and his own Hat-rick, 4 goals in 2 games what a great start to his Newcastle career. 4-3
Endon now had to see what character they had and in fairness they found out that they had plenty. Two goals in the last 10 minuets showed that. 4-5
A really good game for the neutral and definitely a great test for this young Newcastle side
