Newcastle made it a Sentinel double for the Club by winning the Sentinel Shield for the third year running with a hard fought victory on penalties against Foley Meir at Vale Park. Following a 1-1 draw after extra time Castle won the Trophy winning 3-1 on penalties after Leo Forlani saved 2 penalties and Castle's penalties were superb.
It was Foley who almost took the lead inside the first 40 seconds but Jack Brammer shot over from 10 yards and shortly after repeated the miss. Castle took the lead midway through the first half when Drew Lowe pressured the defence and the loose ball fell to Callum Griffiths who fired home from 20 yards. cramp started to take its toll and 10 minutes from the end the score was level when substitute Mbemba Juwara hit a fine half volley into the back of the net.
Newcastle looked to be hanging on at times but came closest to winning the tie with Liam Steele hitting the post and Callum Griffiths rifling a shot into the wrong side of the netting. And so to penalties and step up Leo Forlani as Castle ran out 3-1 winners on penalties.
