Last night we hosted Port Vale Academy’s u13’s side

Last night we hosted Port Vale Academy’s u13’s side who had came down to Newcastle last season and beat one of our other teams 16 – 0 so a very tough and technical game was expected.
We weren’t disappointed both teams played good football with the intent to score as often as possible.
Within 5 mins that intent came to fruition Carlo De Stefano intercepting and driving forward before releasing Leo Emery goalward, the striker then beating a static away defence and slotted with aplomb for the first of the night. 1-0
This was to spark of a period of controlled possession for Newcastle with a few skirmishes into the away penalty area but not real shots.
As the half drew to an end Port Vale did grow into the game and gain a level of control in the midfield. But no shots were fired in anger towards the Newcastle goal.
Just as the parents were about to settle down and grab a half-time brew a minor miracle happened Newcastle scored of a Corner!!!!!! A good corner was floated in from the left by Max Barlow and Liam Davies glanced the header into the left hand side of the goal to give Newcastle a solid halftime lead 2-0

As much as Newcastle were in control and were playing well they didn’t play with the high tempo we have come accustomed to.
This though changed in the second half the ball started to move quicker and the Newcastle lads started to cause more issues in the final third, causing a host of corners throughout the second half.
The third came off another corner as Newcastle loaded the box with the big lads. This caused panic in the Vale defence another wonderful corner floated in from Max Barlow was firmly headed into the away goal by an unfortunate defender, he in fairness had to try and get in front of the 3 on rushing Newcastle players who would of scored anyway. 3-0
Port Vale though also started better and this second half was not as one sided as it sounded. One of these attacks resulted in a good long shot that found its way into the Newcastle goal bringing the away team deservedly back into the game. 3-1
Instead of sparking a come back for Port Vale, Newcastle responded instantly forcing another couple of corners where this time Max Van Der Laan floated the ball from the right and Liam Davies Raised to firmly plant his second header into the Vale goal killing off the game. 4-1
A fifth goal was soon scored and again it came off a corner Max Van Der Laan crossing and Harvey Kirkham scoring his first of the summer 5-1
Port Vale did score possibly the best goal of the night when the forward beat a couple of Newcastle defenders before scoring 5-2

A comprehensive scoreline where Newcastle showed some great signs pointing towards an exciting season ahead.
