It was a bitter sweet day for the club last weekend (3rd March) in the Sentinel Cup Quarter Finals; our depleted Under 17s crashed out, while our Under 18s powered through to the Semis.
The Under 17s entertained Audley FC U17s at Newcastle College, and despite an encouraging and positive start, the injury depleted squad went 2-0 down before half time. Further injuries hampered a comeback and Audley secured a third goal to deservedly progress to the semi final.
It was better luck for the Under 18s who had two brothers to thank for the goals that took the team through to the semi final. It was a Tom Wytcherley finish that took Castle into an early lead against Audley FC U18s. Despite a couple more near misses, it was 1-0 to the visitors at half time. Castle with renewed energy, provided the killer blows deep into the second half when Tom Wytcherley converted again and Sam Wytcherley, not to be out done by his brother, put the game beyond doubt.
It is the 6th time in 7 seasons that a Castle team has reached the final 4 of the historic competition. With the club having achieved an unprecedented 4 consecutive Sentinel Cup wins in a row, Castle once again look the team to beat in this years competition.
The semi final will be played at Stone Dominies on Tuesday 9th April, 7pm kick off against Abbey Hulton FC.
