It was the Under 16s who came out victorious

It was the Under 16s who came out victorious in the all club Under 16s and Under 15s affair. Both teams had injury issues and concerns leading into the game. Despite this the teams put on a really good contest before two goals in the last twenty minutes gave the older boys the win.

Oliver Watchorn Rice went close on two occasions for the Under 16s early with long range efforts that went narrowly wide, Callum Griffiths headed wide also from another dangerous corner. The Under 15s were defending in numbers and very well, Bradbury, Arden, Barnes and Downie standing strong against the U16s pacey forward line. It looked like the 15s may take the lead when a free kick from Fletcher Cotton sailed narrowly wide in a rare attempt for the younger counter parts.

The second half saw U15s Keeper Eden Johnson pull off two really excellent saves to continue to frustrate the Under 16s forward line. It was however in vain as two crosses were the unlocking of the U15s defence when Nat Kelsall and then shortly after Callum Griffiths provided the telling goals.

A really superb effort from the Under 15s, well done to them and to the Under 16s for progressing. The next round is the Quarter Finals away versus Eastwood Hanley.
