Newcastle Town suffered defeat to the hands of Bootle on Saturday which was an opportunity for Castle to try and pull away from the bottom group.
Bootle had a chance with a goalmouth scramble after 5 minutes but the ref deemed a foul on Castle to break up their chance, Castle's first real chance of the game come from debutant Eden Bailey after he was fed in the box by Jack, however, his shot was at the Bootle keeper.
Castle did cause issues for Bootle down the left hand side with Lewis Jarman and Bailey linking up well. Whereas on the right side Michael Conlon returning to the club was proving to be a solid addition with his movement down that side and his link-up play with the middle 3. But all balls into the box by Castle were dealt with by the Bootle backline, much the same way that Castle dealt with any chances from Bootle.
