Castle take the derby points

On Saturday in front of our biggest home crowd of the season (480) Castle took the three points in the local borough derby over Kidsgrove Athletic.

Castle handed a debut to new signing Arek Pociask who joined last week from Glossop NE, and the game also marked 150th appearance for defender Luke Dennis, who joined us back in 2017 and has become a firm fans favourite ever since.

Kidsgrove had the early chance to take the lead in the game from the spot but Owen Mooney pulled off a wonderful penalty save to keep his team in the game.

Then on 42 minutes, Nathan Morley scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game after running on to a misplaced pass and firing home.

Castle had chances in the second half to extend their lead but was excellent in their play and possession to deny Grove anything despite Kidsgrove hitting the side netting and the crossbar but they could not find the leveller in the game and Castle kept the points in a crunch league game.
