Men's Squad Update

It's been a pre-season of change for Neil Baker and his playing squad. We are happy to provide an update following the weekends fixture.

Those of you that travelling up the (busy) motorway on Saturday for the league opener against Bury FC, may have had to scramble for the team sheet or your X log in to try and put names to the many new faces.

It has been a challenging Summer for Men's 1st Team Manager Neil Baker, who has been besieged with an injury crisis to his squad.

Tim Grice, Ethan Vale, Tom Jones and Tom Thorley all face spells on the side-line in the upcoming weeks, the latter unfortunately for the season.

With several players also moving on (see up to date list below), Manager Baker has been busy in the transfer market mixing new permanent signings with a cluster of loan deals to help Town through the first batch of fixtures.

Joel Jones, no stranger to Town having played in the club's youth system was the first new recruit through the door, the tough centre forward will not only give defenders a headache but the media team too, with two Jones' up front it could get messy!

Further new recruits include Rob Thorley from Uttoxeter, another previous youth team player, who is no stranger to anyone in the team, especially his twin brother Tom. Joining Rob and the squad on a permanent basis are Mikey Lawson, Sean Lawton, Harlan Morris Luca Whitney, Corey Muirhead and Tyrone Cadeau. Goalkeeper Adam Whitehouse has also been added to the ranks, completing his debut against Bury FC on Saturday with a fine display.

To add further options and depth to the squad, Neil has used his local contacts to source some excellent loan players, with William Earley and Daniel Matthews joining from Burton Albion, both having made excellent impressions on their first two games. Joining them is Rubuen Falding from Shrewsbury Town FC and Noel Brindle who joins from Chorley FC.

Finally another new boy to look out for is Scott Johnston, the defender is expected to join up with the squad on Tuesday night for our home fixture versus Sporting Khalsa.
