Retirement for grassroots servant

As the curtain fell on the 2023-2024 season for our Men’s Reserve team, time was also called on the management career of David Dale.

Dave, who has been in the game for nearly 6 decades, first as a player before switching to the sideline, has now called time on his touchline career following the successful promotion of our Reserve team into the Staffordshire County Senior League Premier Division.

Stints in management with Norton United, Eccleshall, Stone Dominoes, Alsager Town and a number of junior teams were combined with three different spells at Newcastle Town in various different roles, which included Sentinel Cup and league successes, not to mention the development of many players to higher levels of football including the professional game.

Chairman Gavin Appleby presented Dave with a silver plaque after the teams final game of the season, that read

“Dave,

From all of your players, past and present, and from all of the clubs you have served over many decades- thank you!”

From all of us at Newcastle Town we wish you all the health and happiness in a deserved retirement.
