Match Preview – Newcastle Town v Clitheroe By Alfie

Newcastle Town are currently in 14th place, while Clitheroe sit in 8th place in the table.

Newcastle are coming into this game on the back of 3 straight wins and have only lost 1 in the last 5.

Clitheroe come into it after only winning 1 in the last 5, so Newcastle will be coming into this game as favourites and will believe that they can overtake Clitheroe and go into 8th if results go their way.

The last time that these two teams met earlier on in the season at Shawbridge, Clitheroe won 2-1.

Newcastle went 1 nil up until an inform Sefton Gonzales had other ideas and put the ball in the back of the net.

Newcastle have only won 2 out of the last 7 against Clitheroe with Clitheroe winning 4, while

there has been just 1 draw.

Clitheroe striker Sefton Gonzales has scored 14 goals in only 22 games and will be looking to score past Newcastle in his second spell at Clitheroe after joining from Ramsbottom in July of 2021.

Newcastle have only conceded 1 goal in the last five league games so they’ll believe that they can stop 1 of the most inform strikers in the league.

They will also be hoping that Tommy van der Laan will be fit after being forced off with an ankle injury last weekend.

Newcastle haven’t got a game next week so they must get something out of this game to keep them in touching distance with the play off positions.

Newcastle Town v Clitheroe – Match Preview – By Leo

Newcastle Town sit 14th in the Northern Premier League West, while Clitheroe sit 8th and are pushing for a play-off place. Newcastle Town are at home for the game but recent form would suggest they’re favourites.

Newcastle Town won 0-3 away at Avro FC in a convincing showing last time out and have won 3 in 3 in breathtaking form. It has all the signs of a cracking fixture as Clitheroe have only lost 1 in their last 5.

Clitheroe come off the back of a 2-2 draw away from home which will bring confidence for them with another trip on the road on Saturday. A last-minute equaliser last time out will give Clitheroe confidence heading into the game.

Newcastle town lost 2-1 in October, at Clitheroe, earlier on in the season in a very tight and scrappy game and will be looking for revenge to take upon Clitheroe. Sefton Gonzales netted 1 of his 14 against the Town so Newcastle will be looking to stop the dangerous striker.

A win for the Town will leave them only 2 points off the play off places which they will use to their advantage to give them motivation. On the other hand, Clitheroe with a win, can go on equal points with the play-off places and with a game in hand over the playoff teams they will be raring to go this weekend.

A big 3-point clash with both teams looking to push for the promotion spots, you do not want to miss this clash at the weekend!
