U18s win and youngster impresses

On Friday our Midweek Floodlit team travelled to Lichfield City. Having already secured the Midweek Floodlit County Cup, the team needed 3 points to be in contention for 3rd place.

A large number of unavailable players led to Appleby fielding a team with many 16 year olds in, including one player from the Under 16s side making his debut, Hartley Barrett. A great achievement for the young lad having impressed with his performances in the younger age group.

Despite conceding early on, Town had the better chances, a Jay Cooper equalizer before half time helped Castles cause. The second half was an even game, although with 15 minutes to play Town hadn’t finished with Joel Jones and Jay Cooper adding goal number 2 and 3 to the tally.
