Newcastle Town travelled north of Ellesmere Port where they played City of Liverpool who shares a ground with Vauxhall Motors at the VanEupen Arena
Robin van der Laan made two changes with Lewis Jarman returning to the starting XI and Ryan Baxter getting the nod over Eden Bailey.
Castle come out of the traps well in the first half with some neat football in superb playing conditions to test the COL defence early from a Jack van der Laan strike in the first few minutes.
The way Castle had set up for the game in the first half suited the play and despite a few early breaks from the Purples Castle held the larger part of the possession in the game.
Then on 19 minutes after some great play at the back to win the ball and feed into Ethan Vale who in turn delivered a superbly driven cross ball to Conlon for him to drive forward and win a Castle corner which Ethan Vale stepped up and delivered the ball directly over the keeper and into the far side of the net to give us a much-deserved lead.
City of Liverpool continued to push in the first half to get back in the game with Chakwana causing issues wide and Steele through the middle, but Castle stood strong and showed a strong determination to not allow the lead to slip away.
There were few full-cut chances for Castle as the half played out but the football on show was a pleasure to watch as they moved it around the park with confidence.
Castle made a change at the break with Chris Smith who took a knock in the first half being replaced by Max Chimenes who himself was coming back from a knock a few weeks back.
City of Liverppol continued to push to find the equaliser lead them to various corners and set pieces which were all dealt with by the Castle back line and midfield as they looked to not only take the 3 points but also a clean sheet on our travels.
Max and Baxter were linking well and causing issues up the top and the introduction of Will Lloyd helped Castle to stay strong to the purple push and come away with the W.
